Nurburgring delivers Martin’s 2nd world title!

Martin_Crosses_LineNurburgring – The penultimate round of the 2017 iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series delivered VRS Coanda Simsport and Martin Krönke’s second iWCGPS title.

Having won every iWCGPS race thus far meant that Martin would only need to secure 29th place in the race to remain the world champion for another year. The intentions of making the season a clean sheet were clear from the get go. A rapid start from Martin put him up to P1 after he qualified P2 behind Greger Huttu. From here on Martin controlled the lead until the checkered flag.

Mitchell would qualify P6 and after a good start would remain in P3 for the entire duration of the race. Mack qualifying P8 finished in the same position as he started. Martti went from P15 to P11.

Martin Krönke: “The first title is always a little bit more special, but this one feels great as well. It was almost to be expecting knowing i’d only need a few points in the last 2 races, but you can never take it for granted. It’s very possible to have a DNF and then things might look pretty bad.”
“For next race the aim is to win it again. Another championship is done so that is out of my mind. There’s still a race to go and i’d like to keep the 100% winrate.”

The final round of the iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series will be held at Circuit of the Americas on the 7th of October.
