In 2012 he focused his efforts on the 2012 GT Academy, a highly regarded competition utilising Gran Turismo 5 on the PlayStation 3, aimed at giving the winner a chance to race for real at the 24 hours of Dubai with Nissan. Having made the UK national finals in 2011, this year David made it to the final stage known at Race Camp at Silverstone, featuring various real world driving, physical and mental challenges, where he found himself eliminated as a regional runner up at the very last hurdle in the competition.
Other more recent “real world” competitions David has competed in include the Team HARD VW scholarship, as well as finishing a runner-up in the 2016 want2race competition with Ginetta.
After a couple of years break from sims, David is currently more active than ever, having finished 3rd overall with Coanda in the 2017 Blancpain GT Series World Championship, where he’s competing again this year, and has re-qualified to race in the iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series also in 2018.
